Bruce Shelby Fillpot, age 66, of Haiku, Hawaii, passed away on December 31, 2025 in Honolulu, Hawaii. He was born August 18, 1959 in
Friona, Texas to Bob and Judy (Jersig) Fillpot.
Bruce delighted in discovering which business leaders, celebrities, and just about anyone else shared his birthday-a favorite pastime that perfectly reflected his curiosity, wit, and genuine love of connecting with people. He attended high school at the New Mexico Military Institute and later graduated from New Mexico State University, where he earned his bachelor's degree. Throughout his life, Bruce built and maintained lasting friendships with hundreds of alumni from both institutions-relationships he treasured deeply and nurtured with sincerity and care.
Bruce went on to build a successful career as a Certified Public Accountant, working for several large firms before founding his own company, Shelby Wealth Management Co. He truly loved his work and felt blessed to serve many wonderful clients, forming relationships grounded in trust, respect, and integrity. Throughout his life, Bruce touched many communities and called several places home, including towns across Texas and New Mexico. In 2020, Bruce and his wife, Mary Sue, began a new chapter when they moved to Maui, Hawaii. There, they embraced life on a truly magical island. What they discovered went far beyond a change of scenery-they found deep and lasting friendships that quickly became an essential part of their lives. These relationships were formed with openness, joy, and sincerity, creating a close-knit circle marked by faith, laughter, love, and everyday moments that made life richer. During this season, Bruce and Mary Sue's walk with God grew stronger and more fulfilling. Most especially the Lebowitz family became an immeasurable blessing. They welcomed Bruce and Mary Sue with open hearts and open arms, becoming not just dear friends but a cherished surrogate family. Their love, generosity, and steadfast presence brought comfort, laughter, and healing, easing the ache of being far from loved ones on the mainland. The bond they shared will forever remain a treasured part of Bruce's story and Mary Sue's life.
Wherever he lived, Bruce's presence made a difference, and he left a lasting impression on all who knew him.
Bruce is survived by his wife, Mary Sue Fillpot; his sons, Bryce Fillpot and his wife Amanda, and Baron Fillpot and his partner Savannah Rain Gutierrez; and his parents, Bob and Judy Fillpot. He is also survived by his brother, Bryon Fillpot, and sister-in-law, LuAnn Fillpot; his niece, Taylor (Grant) Nix; his nephews, Ryan (Liz) Fillpot and Harrison (Elizabeth) Fillpot; his brother-in-law, Charles (Beverly) Badami; his niece, Elena Badami; and his cherished grandchildren, Ellie Fillpot and Callahan Fillpot.

Bruce will be remembered for his deep love of God and devotion to Torah, his unwavering passion for truth, his slightly off-the-wall humor that brought smiles and laughter, his genuine warmth and compassion, and the many meaningful, lasting relationships he built with family and friends. His presence touched countless lives, and he will be deeply missed. May his memory be a blessing to all who knew and loved him.
"Bruce wanted me to tell you a hui hou-until we meet again."
