Jeri Floyd Obituary

Published by Legacy on Oct. 1, 2025.
The sun shone a little brighter on January 15, 1957, when Jeri Gay Peet graced the world with her sweet presence. The middle child of Carole and JD Peet, Jeri grew up in Port Neches and graduated from Port Neches-Groves High School. On April 30, 1977, Jeri married Ronnie Floyd, later welcoming daughters, Marlee and Madi.

Jeri's occupation may have been accounting clerk for Provost Umphrey, but her title was Super Mom. She cooked dinner for her family every night and on Sundays, she made pancakes for myriads of hungry customers. Young athletes flocked to the Floyd girls' teams, specifically to devour Jeri's legendary pigs-in-a-blanket. When she wasn't in the kitchen, Jeri was in the car, taking her girls to their various athletic activities and lessons. And she worked fulltime!

Jeri enjoyed travelling with her family, especially to Colorado, where she was more likely to admire the view than to ski. She loved getting together with friends and family, her eyes lighting up, her greeting, "I'm so glad to see you!" warming every heart. She was the epitome of kindness, unless you messed with one of her kids, when she morphed into "Jer-Bear."

Jeri adored the Texans. Her shrieks could be heard for blocks as she cheered for her favorite player, J.J. Watt. Some have wondered whether it was football she embraced or the hunk that wore # 99? Jeri cherished her vino, her family, and J.J. – not necessarily in that order.

Jeri faced challenges and adversity in her life with courage, uncomplaining and optimistic. At the most difficult of times, her motto remained, "Tomorrow is another day, Scarlett."

Jeri is survived by her daughter, Madi and her partner, Ian Allison; the father of her daughters, Ronnie Floyd; her sister, Lynn Keeney and her husband and (Jeri's nemesis), Floyd; her sister-in-law, Donna Robicheaux and her husband Kent; her nephew, Hunter Keeney and his wife, Beth; her niece, Erin Dyson and her husband, Brent; her son-in-law David Willingham; her great-nieces and nephew Jackson and Lillian Hunt; Alice and Layla Keeney; Ana, Blake and Betty Dyson; and her beloved grand-dog, Winston.

Jeri was preceded in death by her parents Carole and JD Peet; her brother, JD Peet, Jr.; her daughter, Marlee; her niece, Jillian Hunt; and her great-nephew, Welles Dyson.

The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to Jeri's devoted caregivers, Misty, Beth, Peachy and Sarah.

Memorial contributions may be made to the National MS Society, P.O. Box 91891, Washington, DC 29990-1891.

A graveside service for Jeri will be held 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 4, 2025, at Oak Bluff Cemetery, Port Neches, under the direction of Broussard's, 505 North 12 th Street, Nederland. To celebrate Jeri's affection for her favorite team, attendees are encouraged to wear their Texans gear.
