Jerod Walker, 48, of Cedar Park, Texas, passed away on Wednesday, November 5, 2025. He was born on July 5, 1977, in Lubbock, Texas, to Melinda Baker and Richard Walker.
A proud graduate of Texas Tech University, Class of 2003, Jerod had a lifelong love of cycling and shared a special bond with his beloved dog, Bo.
Jerod was pure energy:
He gave that energy freely to anyone who he made contact with. It was like he had access to a realm that was unobtainable to most. He could reach into that realm and instill confidence into anyone and it could lift them higher than they thought they could go. It's the realm that we may have touched as children when the world seemed full of color and possibility.
In this realm you might find him helping someone find a job, teaching them how to lift weights or mountain bike. He would unlock the secrets of nutrition to make you feel healthier than you ever have. He would take you out on a trail that you never heard of and show you beauty that you didn't know was on this planet.
He was a protector of those less fortunate, a hero to children, and the first person any dog would run to feel safe with.
Jerod is survived by his parents, Melinda Baker and Richard Walker; his stepmother, Catherine; his brother, Rhett Walker and his wife Gabby and his loyal companion, Bo. He is also lovingly remembered by his uncle and aunt, Bill and Deb Mills, along with extended family and many dear friends who were fortunate to know him.
A celebration of Jerod's life will be held in January, with details to be determined. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages friends to honor his memory by supporting a local animal shelter.
