Jerome "Jerry" C. Cotter, 59, of Iroquois passed away on Thursday, January 1, 2026 at his residence. He was born on April 11, 1966 in Watseka, the son of Jerome C. Cotter and Jane King of Sheldon. Jerry was preceded in death by his father and stepfather.
Jerry married Jessica Scifers on September 10, 2011 in Watseka and she survives.
Also surviving are his children, Michael (Whitney) Cotter of Ashkum, Chris (Brittany) Cotter of Chebanse, and Cody (Courtney) Cotter of St. Anne; mother, Jane King of Sheldon; stepchildren, Kasey Nye, Lexi Bower, Ashley Emery, and AJ Rogers; one sister, Janice Cotter of Watseka; four grandchildren, Chloe, Charli, Finn, and Kaylynn Cotter; and his pride and joy, his dog, Titan.
Jerry was born and raised in Iroquois County. Jerry was a Heavy Equipment Operator for Local #150 at the Newton County Landfill for 29 years. He was also a Village Trustee for several years. Jerry enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and tending to his gardening.
Funeral services will be at noon on Thursday, January 8, 2026 at the Knapp Funeral Home in Watseka with Rev. Tira Clement officiating. There will be a two-hour visitation prior to the funeral beginning at 10:00 a.m. also at the funeral home. Cremation rites will be accorded with no burial at this time.
Memorials may be made to the donor's choice.
