Jerome "Jerry" D. Heike, 86, of Platteville, WI, formerly of Benton, WI passed away on Monday, December 11, 2023. A Celebration of Life gathering for family & friends will be held on Saturday, February 3rd from 12:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. at Haudenshield Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Cuba City, WI. A private family burial will be held at a later date. The Haudenshield Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Cuba City, WI is serving the family.
Jerry was born on July 2, 1937 to William and Eleanor (VanDiepen) in Oak Park, IL. On April 23, 1966 he married Ruth E. Berberich in Madison, WI.
Jerry was a carpenter in Madison, working on many of the building in downtown Madison and was a member of Carpenters Local 314. When Jerry was not in his woodworking shop making anything and everything, including all the cabinets, doors and wood trim for their home, he was in the tractor shop. Jerry loved antique tractors, both restoring and driving then in the local parades. In his earlier years Jerry and Ruth spent many days in the garden, growing fresh produce and flowers and they loved to travel together.
Jerry is survived by his brother, Stephen (Janice) Heike of Oak Park, IL; a brother-in-law, Harold (Shirely) Berberich of Onalaska, WI; a sister-in-law, Anna Mae Lessard of Guttenberg, IA; along with many nieces and nephews who he loved to spend time with teaching woodworking and mechanics, if it was broke, he would fix it.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Ruth and a sister, Susan (James) Michel.
In lieu of plants & flowers a Jerome "Jerry" D. Heike Memorial Fund has been established.
