June 14, 2014 - I know how proud you must be today as you watch Jr. and Raven graduate high school. They have the potential to become whatever they want to be. They sat together in the same row and received their diplomas - Raven and Raymond Johnson. You did well, my son. Your spirit continues to guide and parent them in ways no one can comprehend. We love and miss you so very much and thankful for the presence of your spirit. Congratulations, job well done!

December 24, 2013

It is Christmas Eve and I find myself remembering your first smile, laugh, steps, words etc. Few realize the passing of one's child goes far beyond tears. The pain never stops. I can't cry it out. Behind the smile are more tears, more pain than anyone can ever know. From Jr's birth, I was anxious for the day the two of you would walk side by side sharing the bond and love of father and son. You never left him, for your spirit lives inside of him guiding him through the challenges of life. Like you, he is a strong young man. I am very proud of him and know someday that he also will be a great father and his son will know of you through the words and eyes of your son. Raven continues to write about you. We miss you. You are the joy of our family.

My son Jerome, how true to heart, Jr is like you. He has had 5 cars in the last month. It's amazing to watch him grow into such a fine young man. I thank you for the precious gift of Jr. He and Raven still struggle with your not being here. The one thing they know is they are loved by you. They love you and miss you so very much. Love and missing you son, but one day we will all be together and be the family we were meant to be under God's house and no one will be able to destroy us.

Dear Jerome, I know you are very proud as you watch from above. Your son is so very much YOU! His interest in motorcycles, cars, the way he walks, talks is all YOU! I hear his footsteps as he comes in the house and I know it is him, for there is only two people whose footsteps sound like that. Yours and Jr.! Your Love and Presence surround me thru your son. We miss you so very much, my oldest son!

Dear Ray and entire family:

I just learned of your loss today. Though I can't imagine the enormous void you have, please know that I, too, feel an emptiness. Just Saturday I thought of the two of you and wondered how you were...little did I know. I was completely taken with wonderment with you first introduced me to Jerome. What a brilliant light he gave to each of us who had the honor of meeting him. He was genuine, incredibly funny, and talented. He's was unquestionably one of those people that you loved-immediately, forever. Thank you for raising a remarkable young man and thank God for blessing all of us with Jerome.

of splendor in the grass, of glory in the flower,

We will grieve not, rather find

Strength in what remains behind.

I'm so sad to see him go... memories of Jerome's laughter, smiles, great hugs, endless teasing and steadfast friendship will never be forgotten. To the Johnson family, Joyce, Junior...please find comfort and strength in the knowledge that Jerome is so loved...and will be missed eternally.

We met Jerome about 10 yrs ago, I don't think there was one time after that that when we saw him that he and I would not pick on one another.(He always called me evil. I think coming from him that was a compliment)He always knew how to make you smile. Jerome always smiled. Jerome will be truely missed. He was a blessing to everyones life he came in contact with. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Joyce, the Johnson Family and his extended family.

Fly, fly little wing

Fly beyond imagining

The softest cloud, the whitest dove

Upon the wind of heaven's love

Past the planets and the stars

Leave this lonely world of ours

Escape the sorrow and the pain

And fly again

Fly, fly precious one

Your endless journey has begun

Take your gentle happiness

Far too beautiful for this

Cross over to the other shore

There is peace forevermore

But hold this memory bittersweet

Until we meet

Fly, fly do not fear

Don't waste a breath, don't shed a tear

Your heart is pure, your soul is free

Be on your way, don't wait for me

Above the universe you'll climb

On beyond the hands of time

The moon will rise, the sun will set

But I won't forget

Fly, fly little wing

Fly where only angels sing

Fly away, the time is right

Go now, find the light

We love you Jerome!

I met Jerome in high school, where we became good friends. Though I was there for less than two years, his friendship was one that remained. Jerome and I would catch up via email a few times a year. I "spoke" to him last about a month ago; catching up and sharing stories about our kids. I remember he said, "They grow so fast... don't blink, or you'll miss it". I've been guilty of that and I've missed so much of my friend. I will miss you, Jerome. You're a good friend.

My deepest sympathies for your son, fiance, and family. God will get them through.
