Jerome P. "Dookie" Morales Sr.

Jerome Peter Morales, Sr., known as "Dookie", was a lifelong Port Allen resident born on April 19, 1933, and passed away at St. Joseph Hospice Facility surrounded by loved ones, on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, at the age of 92.

He was a graduate of Port Allen High and a Korean War Veteran who served 4 years in the US Air Force (1952 to 1956) as a Communication Specialist with Final Top Secret Clearance. "Dookie" retired from a successful stevedoring career in Port Allen and he had numerous interests and achievements, serving as a charter member of International Longshoremen's Association and on the board of directors for Local Union 1833. Some of "Dookie's" past professional roles included, Controller of Baton Rouge Marine Contractors, president of the Capital City Stevedores, Inc., president of Baton Rouge Steamship Association. He was a member of Knights of Columbus Council 2875, American Legion Post 160. "Dookie" was elected and served 32 years as a WBR Parish Democratic Committee Member. He was also elected and served 3 consecutive terms as a WBR Parish Police Jury Member. "Dookie" served as the first WBR Parish Revenue Tax Agent and first Revenue Tax Officer. He was the assistant parish manager of WBR Parish and executive assistant to the WBR Parish President.

Visiting will be at Holy Family Catholic Church in Port Allen on Thursday, January 29th, from 10 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 12 p.m., celebrated by Rev. Jerry Martin. Entombment will follow in St. John the Baptist Catholic Church Mausoleum in Brusly.

"Dookie" is survived by his four children, J.P. "Noonie" Morales, Jr. and wife Donna, Denise Morales Rodrigue and husband David, Debbie Morales and husband Jeff Brask, Dixie Morales Scalise; grandchildren, J.P. "Pete" Morales III and wife Carlyn, Vivian Morales, , Victoria Genusa , Olivia Genusa, Crystal Rodrigue Antie and husband Brad, Peter Brask and wife Maria, Daniel Brask and wife Paige, Erica Brask and husband Sam Tallidis, Casey Scalise Landry and husband Bryce, Justin B. Scalise and wife Lindsey, Candice B. Scalise; and numerous great-grandchildren.

"Dookie" was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence "Bob" and Irene "Cootee" Hebert Morales; sisters, Margie Morales Lefebvre and husband Herman, Bobbie Ann Morales Kostelka and husband Bob; and grandchild, Lucas Goodwin.
