It is with grieving hearts that we announce the passing of Mr. Jerome "Jerry/J.J." Edward Vantrease on July 12th, 2023, in Portland, Tennessee.
Jerry was born to Clyde Lester Vantrease and Mary Nell Turner Vantrease on May 30th, 1949 in Lebanon, Tennessee. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. Jerry had a magnetic and vibrant spirit, and an unmatched sense of humor. His family lovingly called him a cutup guy who never encountered a stranger, and always had a mischievous twinkle in his eye. He had a soft spot for his precious puppy dogs, and will be greeted at heaven's gates by his fur babies Prince and Harley. Country music held a special place in Jerry's heart, and he could often be found cruising on his Harley motorcycle jamming to some of his favorite artists, including Tracy Lawrence, Jason Aldean, Morgan Wallen, and Alan Jackson. His family was his pride and joy, especially his five grandbabies. He brought laughter, joy, and a sense of adventure to all who were fortunate enough to know him. Jerry's legacy will forever be imprinted on the hearts of those he knew and loved.
Jerry is preceded in death by his parents Clyde and Mary, and sister Judy Cuffman. He is survived by his loving wife Teresa Dianne Vantrease; daughters Brandi Celeste Rich (Shaun), Victoria Brooke Carter (Brent), and Halley Gabrielle McLain; grandchildren Kye, Kale, Vanlie, Brenning, and Collins; fur baby Bentley; and a host of extended family and dear friend "Cook."
The family cordially invites guests and relatives for a time of visitation on Saturday, July 15th, 2023, from eleven o'clock in the afternoon until two o'clock in the afternoon, with a chapel funeral service at two o'clock in the afternoon, and entombment to follow at Spring Hill Funeral Home and Cemetery, 5110 Gallatin Road, Nashville, TN 37216.
In honor of Jerry, please consider wearing a Harley shirt if you have one, or simply orange or black; we know it would make him smile.
Arrangements for Mr. Vantrease are entrusted to Spring Hill Funeral Home and Cemetery, "Where Nashville Comes to Remember."
