Jerrie Motes Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Anniston Memorial Funeral Home on Dec. 30, 2025.
Funeral services to celebrate the life of Mrs. Jerrie H. Motes, 84, of Saks, will be held on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Anniston Memorial Funeral Home. Rev. Larry Bollinger will be officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:30 AM until the time of service at the funeral home. Jerrie will be laid to rest following the service in Anniston Memorial Gardens.
Jerrie gained her eternal reward, meeting her Lord and Savior face to face, on Sunday, December 28, 2025.
Those preceding Jerrie in death include her parents, Milton H. Harris and Eba Whitman Harris; her brother, Tommy Harris; her niece, Tonya Ramey; and her brother-in-law, Donnie Ramey.
Those left to cherish the memory of Jerrie include her devoted husband of 66 years, Orval Motes; her beloved sisters, Shelby Ramey and Debra (Sam) Prichard; numerous adored nieces and nephews; and a host of extended family members and friends.
Jerrie was a member of Saks Baptist Church and was a lifelong native of Anniston. She retired from Anniston Orthopedics where she worked for 33 ½ years. Jerrie was a wonderful and caring person with an enormous heart. She had much compassion for caring for others and was always willing to lend a hand and tend to those in need. In her spare time, Jerrie enjoyed watching Alabama football. She had many favorite pastimes, including camping and traveling with her husband, going to Disneyworld where she admired all things Mickey Mouse, reading, going to quartet conventions, and cooking. Jerrie also carried a desire in her heart to make sure those she knew and loved had flowers on their graves and would offer to place them for families that lived out of town. She will be remembered for the countless moments of generosity she so freely gave and forever loved for the way she made others feel.

To the Motes and Harris families; One of our family Angels has now joined God in his house. Jerrie was a very special person, kind, generous, caring and too many other words to describe her. We shared many memories during our young lives while growing up in Blue Mountain and Saks. During our younger years we celebrated birthday parties, dinner and play groups on Net Street while our mothers (who were cousins) watched over us so we did not get into trouble. I will always remember her as my cousin and friend.

My heart hurts in the loss of Jerri. She was a major figure in my life, always there to any of us in need. She treated my Mom and Dad as her own parents. Her help for Mom and Dad are to enormous to mention here. I loved her as a big sister. She´ll be missed. My love, and prayers are for Orval and her family. She was one of a kind. I´am sure she meet the Bear
with a joyous "Roll Tide"! My
memories of Jerri will last forever and bring a big smile. May God Bless her and her family.
