Age 90, of Palm Beach Gardens, FL, formally of Nevillewood and Mt Lebanon, PA, passed away peacefully on November 29, 2022., He was born on December 31, 1931 to William and Ann Delaney. Jerrold is preceded in death by his wife of 53 years Marjorie Walling Delaney who went to greet the lord on August 3, 2007. Jerrold was the youngest of 5 children and was predeceased by his siblings, Don Delaney (Rose), Loralee Delaney Lee (Frank), Dorothy Delaney Ward (John), and Sharon Delaney Okada (Robert). Jerry is the father of Steven Delaney (Gerrie), Dawn Delaney Vermeesch (Bill), Cynthia Delaney DeLo (David), and William Delaney (Cheryl); grandfather of Christin, Brian, Ashley, Tia, Brady, Lesley, Honour, Catherine, Elizabeth; and beloved great-grandfather of 11. Jerry also leaves behind his second wife of 13 years, Eileen (Divone) (Reedy) Delaney. Jerry is also stepfather of Charles Divone (deceased Caroline) and Paul Divone (Carolyn); and step-grandfather of Sophia, George, and Oliver.

Jerry was born in Spokane, Washington, and moved to Grand Rapids, MI, in 1934. He graduated from Catholic Central High School in 1949. While attending CCHS, he lettered in basketball all four years and won a state championship his senior year. His basketball career continued after High School playing on a scholarship at Michigan State University before graduating with a bachelor's degree in 1954. In 1955 he was drafted into the US Army and completed his basic training in Fort Ord, California, before being stationed in Anchorage, Alaska. Upon his return from the Army, Jerry began his career working for Abitibi Corporation in Detroit, MI., as a sales representative and was later promoted to sales manager. In 1964 he was promoted to regional manager, transferred to Pittsburgh, PA., and settled in Mt. Lebanon, PA. In 1968 Jerry started his wholesale distribution business, Distributor Service Inc. selling Abitibi wood products and paneling to lumber yards and home centers. Fifty-four years later, the family company he proudly founded still operates its headquarters in Carnegie, PA, and has grown to 8 locations covering five states and employs over 150 people. 

Jerry was an avid golfer and a member of Valley Brook Country Club; his overwhelming popularity made him a shoo-in as a two-term elected president. In 1999, he transferred to The Club at Nevillewood, where he and Marge built a new home on the golf course and continued his love of golf. He quickly made new friendships and loved playing in the daily "Lunch Bunch" game. Jerry loved being around people and was best known for embracing people and making everyone in the conversation feel comfortable. It was no secret people loved being around him, and his infectious personality always made people welcome. To say he was a "Great Guy" would be an understatement to many.

Family and friends welcome Thursday, December 8, 2-4 and 6-8 PM in WILLIAM SLATER II FUNERAL SERVICE, 1650 Greentree Road, Scott Twp., 412-563-2800. Mass of Christian Burial, Friday, December 9, 10 AM in St. Barbara Church, Corpus Christi Parish, 45 Prestley Road, Bridgeville. Interment to follow in St. Barbara Cemetery. Flowers or memorial contributions in Jerry's name may be made to The Alzheimer's Association, https://www.alz.org.
