Sandra M. “Sandy” Ondrusek, age 81, of Dover, passed away at the Hennis Care Centre of Bolivar on Wednesday, February 25, 2026.
Born in Steubenville, Ohio on November 25, 1944, Sandy was the daughter of the late Joseph and Edith Petrella Iacovone. She attended Catholic Central High School in Steubenville, and after graduating in 1962, she continued on to cosmetology school. She worked in daycare and nursing home facilities for most of her life, and enjoyed the care she gave to both young and old. She was selfless, and deeply cared for all those around her. She had very nurturing and healing hands, especially with babies, and her calming presence rocked many infants to sleep.
Sandy was honest to a fault and had no filter when it came to expressing her opinion. Each time someone utters the phrase, “let me tell you something,” they will remember Sandy with her finger pointed, and a point to get across. Her advice was always rooted in love, with her strong faith evident to those around her. Sandy was a daughter in Christ, and His light in her shown through to so many people. One of her greatest gifts was her contagious laugh that always lit up the room. Known for her love of cooking and baking, she often invited guests over for dinner to enjoy an excellent meal. Folks may have entered as strangers, but left her home as friends. She loved Christmas, and held the spirit of Christmas close all year; and couldn’t wait to joyfully celebrate with her family each year.
On August 22, 1985, Sandy married Michael Odrusek. The couple celebrated thirty two years of marriage before his passing on December 12, 2017.
Sandy will be deeply missed by her daughters, Krissie (Mark) Overly of Columbus and Jodie (Jordan) McRobie of Beloit. Sandy was also the proud grandmother of five: Blake and Makenna Overly; Chandler (Stacey) Davis, Mason Gibbs, and Keaton Gibbs . She is also survived by her brother, Dominic (Margaret) Iacovone of Steubenville.
Cremation has been entrusted to the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory in Dover. Per Sandy’s wishes, there are no calling hours or services. To sign an online guestbook please visit the funeral home’s website.
