Anthony “Junio” Contini, 94, died peacefully on Sunday, February 22, 2026, at Dover Park Village. His parents were Anthony and Rocchina Companara Contini, and he was born in Dover on September 7, 1931.
Tony loved playing sports, and was captain of the football and basketball teams at Saint Joseph’s High School. He caught his wife, Anna’s, eye on the court, and she asked him to go with her to the Leap Year Dance, where the girls asked the boys. While he was proudly serving in the Marine Corps, they married on October 3, 1953.
He never missed watching his children and grandchildren at their sports events. He valued education, and it was important to him that they earn a higher education degree. In 1958, Tony, his father-in-law, Louis Rieger, and Amish craftsmen built their home, and their family lived there for 67 years.
Anthony worked at Joy Manufacturing Company for 33 years, absent only 2 1/2 days during his employment.
He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Anna Rieger Contini; children, Debbie (Ron) Marshall, Steve (Teresa), and Vince (Stefanie); grandchildren, Stefanie (Dylan) Drugan, Emily Contini, Nick (Jenni) Contini, Peyton Contini, and Brinley Contini; and great-grandchild, Felicity Drugan.
