In Loving Memory of Jerry Wayne Adkisson
It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved father, Jerry Wayne Adkisson. Jerry, 77, also affectionately known as "Snake" by those whom he worked with at TVA, passed away in his home on Saturday, January 25, 2025. He was born in Camden, TN on September 24, 1947, to the late Bryant "Sonny" Adkisson and the late Mary Dean Strickland. Jerry was known by many for his expertise in automotive mechanics. He was an Army veteran, a retiree of Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA), and a former employee of AutoZone. Jerry had a love of motorcycles and working with his hands, from handy work to vehicle repair. He also loved his rhythm and blues music. He was extremely proud of his three daughters and all of his grandchildren.
He is survived by his 3 daughters: Charity (Brent) Tharpe of Dyersburg, TN; Amanda (David) Dabbs of McKenzie, TN; Wendy Adkisson Scopel of Camden, TN. His Caring Ex-wife: Alma Adkisson. 5 Grandchildren: Alex Tharpe, Caulen Tharpe, Makayla Dabbs, Jakoby Scopel, Rayne Scopel. 1 Step Grandson: Austin Dabbs. He is also survived by a host of Nieces, Nephews, Cousins, & Friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Dean Strickland; father, Bryant "Sonny" Adkisson; granddaughter, Angel Tharpe; brothers, Fred Strickland, Eugene Laws, William Laws, Fremon Ford, Elmer Rushing; sister, Martha Sue Adkisson Sain.
Jerry will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and all of those who had the pleasure of meeting him.
