Jerry Lee Baker

Jerry Lee Baker, age 80, of Grand Rapids, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday June 12, 2021 after a long battle with Melanoma Cancer. He was born in Rosedale OK, on May 21, 1941 to the late Roy and Louisa Baker. He is survived by his wife of 21 years, Lori (Tuinstra) Baker; children, Vicki (Jon) Gardner, Troy Baker; siblings, Suzana d'Agrella, Diane Musick, Karen Baker, Kathy Mears, Jeff Baker; grandchildren, Cody (Angie) Gardner, Lynnae (Sabir) Randall, Victoria Smith Baker; great- grandchildren, Aniyah Randall, Sauayla Randall, Caden Burnett; and best friend, Charlie Klein.

Jerry achieved many things during his time on earth. He made ever lasting relationships with people who care so much about him. One being the relationship he made with his life time friend, Charlie; and two, meeting his wife, Lori, who has been by his side for a total of 36 years. Jerry took great pride in all the things he accomplished in his lifetime. He was very proud of his job at Bankers Casualty & Life working as a manager. One of Jerry's most honoring moments was serving his country from 1963 to 1965 in the U.S Naval Services.

Jerry stayed active in his community years later after leaving the Navy. In his older age, he was an avid member of the VFW, American Legion, and Amvets. Often he would volunteer his time to the Make a Wish Foundation and other charities. In his free time he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time up north.

During his retirement, he worked at Professional Courier Services as a courier. He loved everything about the job from his wonderful boss to his daily delivery routes to the police departments, post offices, and hospitals. He enjoyed it so much that he worked until his very last day.

Jerry will be remembered as a loving husband, father, brother, and best friend.

Per Jerry's wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service to honor Jerry's life will be held at a later date.
