Jerry Vernon Bass of McRae, Arkansas departed this world on January 18, 2025. He was born in Beebe, Arkansas on February 8, 1942, to Paul "Mutt" Bass and Ora Mae (Scroggs) of McRae.
He is survived by his wife Brenda, sons Glen (Traci) Bass of McRae and Sam (Felicia) Bass of Huntington, Tennessee, stepdaughter April (Chris) Rodgers of Beebe, and six grandchildren. Jerry is also survived by his brother Jimmy (Linda) Bass of McRae, his sister Barbara Watts of Gillett, as well as a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents as well as brothers Leslie Bass and Donnie Bass, all of McRae.
Jerry graduated from Beebe High School, attended ASU-Beebe, and enlisted in the Arkansas National Guard where he proudly served for thirty years before retiring at the rank of Sergeant First Class. In his civilian life he worked for Ford Motor Co., owned and operated El Sancho's Mexican Restaurant in Beebe during the 1970's and the 1980's, as well as working for the city of Beebe. Jerry was a long- time member of the Beebe Nazarene Church. He was also an accomplished outdoorsman and an avid Arkansas Razorbacks fan.
When not hunting, fishing or cheering on the Hogs, he also excelled at the pursuits of gardening and arrowhead collecting. Jerry also loved traveling the American Southwest. He visited his favorite destination of White Sands, New Mexico on several occasions.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Beebe Animal Shelter. Jerry was a lifelong lover of his cats and dogs having rescued many during his lifetime.
Funeral will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 22, 2025, at Smith-Westbrook Funeral Home, 404 W. Dewitt Henry Dr., Beebe, Arkansas, with burial in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens. www.smithfamilycares.com
