Jerry Edward Bishop, 79, of Lafayette and formerly of Monticello, passed away on Wednesday, May 8, 2024 at The Springs in Lafayette.

He was born on October 9, 1944 in Urbana, OH to the late Marvin and Ada (Smith) Bishop.

He was a graduate of Appleton High School in Wisconsin and Wartburg College in Iowa.  He spent his career in social services and worked as a social worker with those with developmental disabilities.

Jerry enjoyed Purdue sports, fishing, flea marketing, gardening, and traveling.  He cherished his family, especially his grandchildren.  He connected with people everywhere he went and made friends easily.

He is survived by three sons, Brett (Amy) Bishop of Copperas Cove, TX, Cody (Gretchen) Bishop of Ogden Dunes, IN, Todd Bishop of IL; grandchildren, Lilliana, Evelyn, Rebekah, Henry, Carson, Trevor and Faith.

He was also preceded in death by a brother, David Bishop.

Visitation will be from 10:00 am until the time of services at 11:00 am on Saturday, May 18, 2024 at Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home of Monticello with his son, Pastor Brett Bishop officiating.

Private Family burial will follow in Riverview I.O.O.F. Cemetery.
