Jerry Thomas Brooks, 82, of Cleveland, passed away Tuesday, June 10, 2025 at his home in Cleveland, NC, after a long battle with cancer.
He was born January 8, 1943 in North Wilkesboro, NC to the late Lawrence and Louise Triplett Brooks. He was a graduate of West Wilkes High School. Jerry retired from Kosa after 30 years of service. Then he worked for Hunt manufacturing for 11 years before he fully retired. In retirement, he enjoyed gardening, and working in the yard. He was of the Christian Faith.
In addition to his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by one beloved son, Eric Stephen Brooks; one granddaughter, Cortney Brooks Hegler; one sister, Sue Sparks and husband, Gene; two half brothers, Tony and Benny Brooks; two half sisters, Judy Lusk and husband, Harry; and Diane Roberts and husband, James; and step mother, Gladys Brooks.
Jerry is survived by his wife of 62 years, Jane Hayes Brooks, whom he married on October 6,1962; sons, Jerome Brooks and Michael Brooks; eight grandchildren, David Brooks (Samantha), Sherri Brooks, Carmen Brooks, Sabrina Brooks (Tyler), Katelyn Brooks, Kyndall Brooks, Destiny Brooks (John), Eric Brooks; and seven great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews, and special niece, Mary Snyder.
The family would like to thank Hospice of Iredell County for all their love and care over the last ten and a half months. A special thank you to his hospice nurse Lindsay Lawrence and CNA Sarah Richards.
