Obituary published on Legacy.com by Boone Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services on Mar. 3, 2026.
James Worth Blackburn, Jr. of West Jefferson passed away on Sunday, March 1, 2026. He

lived an abundant, happy life, finding joy in simple moments with family and friends.

Jim was born on June 30th, 1950, the son of the late James Worth Blackburn and Ruby McNeill

Blackburn. He graduated from West Wilkes High School and attended Wilkes Community

College, followed by many years working in the trucking industry.

A longtime resident of Wilkes County, Jim and his loving wife, Jane, spent the last 21 years in

Ashe County. Jim cherished his family above all else and found his greatest joy in time spent

with his wife, children, and grandchildren. He embraced the beauty of mountain living and had a

special love for nature and animals, often enjoying peaceful walks with his dog and hikes along

the trails of Mount Jefferson.

In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his sister, Lenna Sue Blackburn

Caudill.

Jim is survived by his wife, Jane Staley Blackburn; his son, James Worth Blackburn III and wife

Dawn of Kings Mountain, NC; and his daughter, Candace Jane Betbeder and husband Darren

of Fuquay-Varina, NC. He is also lovingly remembered by his grandchildren: Savannah

Blackburn, Mason Blackburn, Graysen Betbeder, Jillian Betbeder, and Caroline Betbeder.

The family will have a private service at Boone's Funeral Home followed by interment at

Ashelawn Memorial Gardens.
