In Loving Memory of Gloria Jean Ervin Tyson

Gloria Jean Ervin Tyson, affectionately known as "Jeanie," was born on July 13, 1954, in Jenkinjones, West Virginia, to the late Reverend Preston Ervin and Beulah Gentry Ervin. She later made her home in Ashe County, North Carolina.

Gloria graduated from Beaver Creek High School and continued her education at Wilkes Community College and Winston- Salem State University. Among her greatest blessings were her two daughters, Malika Ward and Crystal Ward-Horton, whom she loved dearly. She was also blessed with two bonus children, Robert Ward, Jr., and Renee Ward.

For 33 years, Gloria was a devoted and loving wife to her husband, John Tyson. Their marriage was a testament to commitment, faith, and enduring love. She remained dedicated to her family and steadfast in her role as a wife, mother, and grandmother.

Gloria professed her faith in Jesus Christ at an early age and was a faithful member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Fleetwood, North Carolina. Her faith was not merely something she spoke about-it was something she lived daily. She applied her Christian values to every circumstance, both joyful and challenging. Gloria was a true servant at heart. There was nothing she would not do for others. She gave freely-even when it required personal sacrifice-and believed deeply in caring for her family and extending kindness to everyone she encountered.

Gloria leaves to cherish her memory her loving husband, John Tyson; two sisters, Brenda Ervin, and Jacqueline Vannoy (Allen); her daughters, Malika Ward and Crystal Ward-Horton (Scott); her bonus children, Robert Ward, Jr., and Renee Ward; her grandchildren, Majasia Ward Roland (Michael), James Bittle, Braylin Horton, Brinity Horton, Brooklyn Horton, Ricardo Ward, Oscar Ward, Mariah Davis, and Mya Davis; her great-grandchildren, Aaliyah Roland and Benjamin Roland; and her bonus grandchildren, Kennedy Ward and Robert Ward, III, and a host of nieces and nephews

Her greatest joys were spending time with her family, serving others, attending church, watching her favorite television stories-Days of Our Lives, The Young and the Restless, The Bold and the Beautiful, and completing word searches. Gloria will forever be remembered for her unwavering faith, her strength, her generosity, and the countless selfless acts that defined her life.
