John Daniel Barringer

John Daniel Barringer, age 85, passed away on March 7 th, 2026, at his home, surrounded by his family. He was born on December 24 th, 1940 in Kannapolis, NC, the son of the late Hiller Davis Barringer and Callie Winecoff Barringer.

John was a graduate of A.L. Brown High School, and he began his career in the mechanized U.S. Army. He later became an industrial/commercial electrical contractor and ran his own business, Barnhardt Electric, with his brother-in-law, John Barnhardt. Together they wired many of the buildings in downtown Charlotte, NC.

John was a long-time aviator, mechanic, and tinkerer. Those who knew him know that there is nothing he couldn't build or repair. One of his biggest accomplishments was rebuilding and restoring his Piper PA-12 airplane from the ground up. He was a lifetime member of the EAA Chapter 3.

Most important of all to John was his friends and family. Coming from a large family of his own, John cherished every moment with his children, grandchildren, and extended family. He was our biggest supporter, the glue that holds us all together, and had a way of making everyone feel cared for.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by three brothers, Charles Barringer, Richard Barringer, and David Barringer; and 4 sisters, Betty Rapp, Hilda Barringer, Phyllis Safrit, and Ruby Barringer.

Surviving John is his wife of 64 years, Beverley Barringer, two daughters, Lorrie and Meredith, six grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services and receiving will be held at Mount Moriah Ev. Lutheran Church in China Grove, NC (750 Mt. Moriah Church Rd, China Grove, NC 28083) on Friday, March 13th, 2026, from 12:00 PM-1:00 PM. The family will receive friends before the service from 11:00 AM-12:00 PM.
