Jerry Cannon Obituary
Jerry Lee Cannon, a beloved husband, brother, and friend, went to his forever home in heaven on December 29, 2025, at the age of 65. Born on March 16, 1960, in Wilmington, North Carolina, Jerry spent his life enriching the community that he called home.
He was preceded in by his parents Harry & Virginia (Brown) Cannon; his paternal grandparents Malcolm and Luttie (McDaniel) Cannon; his maternal grandparents Bobby & Bertha (Bracewell) Brown "Mama D". Mama D lived with Jerry's family and helped to raise Jerry & Tommy.
He is survived by his loving wife of 38 years Karen Robinson Cannon; his father in law Gene F Robinson; & brother in law Keith G Robinson; brother & sister in law Tommy & Teresa Cannon; and niece Nicole.
Jerry was a devoted alumnus of New Hanover High School and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Jerry worked at his father's service station and the racetrack his father ran in Leland when he was in high school on weekends. He also worked at McDonald's thru all of high school & college. Jerry was a walk on to the Carolina football team his freshman year, despite never playing any organized sports. Jerry worked his way thru college, working two jobs in the summer& part time while he was in school.
Deeply committed to his faith, he played a vital role at Myrtle Grove Evangelical Presbyterian Church, where he served as a long-time deacon. Jerry served on Myrtle Grove Christian School Board for many years. Jerry served on CareNet Counseling Board. His dedication to overseeing the Thanksgiving ministry brought comfort and nourishment to many, embodying his spirit of compassion and service.
Jerry was a very joyful and encouraging person who never met a stranger. Blessed to have many, many friends, family & a loving church family. Jerry was very encouraging by Life 90.5 FM. He called them on a daily basis. Their music and encouragement carried him through a lot of hard days.

A celebration of Jerry's life will be held on Saturday, January 10th, with visitation from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., followed by the funeral service at 11 a.m. at Myrtle Grove Evangelical Presbyterian Church, 800 Piner Road Wilmington, NC. Friends and family are welcome to gather and remember Jerry's remarkable life and impact.
