Jerry Chick, 87, of Big Lake passed away Sunday, January 30, 2022 in Midland.
Public Viewing will be from 12:00 PM until 6:30 PM Friday, February 4, 2022 and from 9:00 AM until service time Saturday, February 5, 2022 at First Baptist Church of Big Lake.
Family visitation will be from 5:00 to 6:30 PM Friday, February 5, 2022 at First Baptist Church of Big Lake.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Saturday February 5, 2022 at First Baptist Church of Big Lake with Rev. Gerald Bastin, pastor, and Rev. Todd M. Starnes, nephew, officiating. Burial will follow at Glen Rest Cemetery under the direction of Robert Massie Funeral Home.
Mr. Chick was born on October 23, 1934 in Brown County, Texas to Charles and Evelyn Ward Chick. Jerry graduated from Reagan County High School in 1953 and served in the U. S. Army from 1953 until 1955. He married the love of his life, Mae Starnes, on November 22, 1958 in Midland, TX. Jerry began his oilfield career shortly after his time in the service. He worked for Pool Company many years and retired from Big Lake Services in 2015 at the age of 81. Jerry also made many lifelong friends during his time in the oilfield. He loved fishing, playing dominoes, and playing golf. His true love was spending time with his family and friends.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years; two daughters, Connie McCulloch and husband Steve of Ovalo and Diane Phillips and husband James of Big Lake; one sister, Janet Taylor and husband George of Del Rio; three grandchildren, Daniel Ross Moore and wife Christi of Clyde, Lance Reynolds of Big Lake, and Katherine Jones and husband Nate of Odessa; two great-grandsons, Brandon Moore and Ethan Moore, both of Clyde and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank Reagan Memorial Hospital and Reagan County Care Center Staff for their sincere and loving care of this very special man during his time there.
