Jerry Lee Dahlsten

Jerry Dahlsten, age 80, passed away on January 2, 2024, after a long battle with Alzheimer's. Jerry was born on January 13, 1943, in Lindsborg Kansas to Dorothy and Evert Dahlsten. He spent his childhood on the family farm near Lindsborg, Kansas. After graduating high school, he went on to his undergraduate degree in Education at Bethany College where he met and married his wife of 58 years, Lois (Brandt) Dahlsten. Together they had 2 daughters, Carole and Jill. Jerry continued his education at Ottowa University where he earned his master's degree. Jerry began his career teaching history and coaching football, as well as becoming a counselor at the high school level in Assaria, Kansas. Later in his career he worked at Hy-way Asphalt and Koch Industries. Jerry spent many years in Salina, Kansas, and later moved to Lenexa, Kansas. In his retirement years, he and Lois lived in Juno Beach, Florida and Rochester, Minnesota.
In his free time, Jerry enjoyed watching football, watching Indy car racing, gardening, and travel. He was an avid reader of history, true crime and mysteries. He had a wonderful sense of humor and loved to make others laugh. He loved animals of all kinds, but especially dogs. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Lois (Brandt) Dahlsten; daughter Carole (Jon) Stevens; daughter Jill Dahlsten; granddaughter Brookelyn Stevens; sister Shirley Pekarek; niece Jennifer Pekarek; niece Leanne (Byron) Grauerholz; and nephew Brian (Robyn) Pekarek. He was preceded in death by his parents Dorothy and Evert Dahlsten; brother-in-law Gene Brandt; and brother-in-law Frank Pekarek.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00am on January 22, 2024, at Aycock-Riverside Funeral and Cremation Center, 1112 Military Trail, Jupiter, Florida. In lieu of flowers, donations should be sent to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
