Jerry Dillon Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Pittsburgh Cremation & Funeral Care - Robinson Township on Dec. 9, 2025.
Jerry F. Dillon of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, passed away on December 2, 2025. Born on December 30, 1947, in Pittsburgh, Jerry remained deeply rooted in the city he loved throughout his entire life. He was the son of the late Robert T. Dillon and Dorothy Dillon.

Jerry is survived by his devoted wife of 35 years, Susan Dillon, and by his beloved daughters, Erin Lynn McDade and Molly Dillon Altaha. He was the proud grandfather of seven grandchildren: Arjun Parmar, Denali Parmar, Aubrey McDade, Kailey McDade, Dorothy Dillon, Robert Dillon, and Javie Altaha. He is also survived by his dear cousin, James Carr, whom he loved like a brother.

Jerry dedicated his entire professional career to the Pittsburgh Press and, later, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. A proud Teamster, he served at the Pittsburgh Press for many years before continuing his work at the Post-Gazette. Jerry was a co-founder and part owner of the Blue Moose Café in Morgantown, West Virginia-an establishment that continues to operate today.

Jerry and Susan shared a love of restoring homes and creating beautiful, welcoming spaces. He cared deeply for his neighbors and community, forming lasting connections throughout his neighborhood.

An active member of the Three Rivers Rowing Association, Jerry developed a fierce passion for rowing and found lifelong friendships along the river. He was also a dedicated member of the Fit for Boxing community, where he spent a decade building strong bonds and courageously fighting the progression of his Parkinson's disease.

Above all, Jerry was a devoted family man. He cherished time spent visiting his grandchildren across the country, taking joy in being an active, loving presence in their lives. He also maintained treasured lifelong friendships with his childhood companions from Oak Hill Manor and the surrounding areas-relationships that brought him profound joy and fulfillment.

Family and friends will be welcome at a celebration of Jerry's life to be held in the spring or summer of 2026.

Dear Sue and Family, I was very sorry to see that Jerry had passed. May God bless you and your family and grant you peace. I'm not sure if you remember me but I surely remember you and Jerry. My husband, Bob Speicher, passed two and a half years ago and I'm in New York now. Your family will help you get through this. Molly (Haberland) Speicher
