Jerry Anthony Dvorak, a cherished member of the community, was born on February 8, 1957, at Mercy Hospital in Marshalltown, Iowa, to George and Marcella (Wacha) Dvorak. He passed away peacefully at home on November 26, 2025, following a courageous battle with cancer. Jerry left this world at the age of 68, leaving behind a legacy filled with love, hard work, and cherished memories.
A proud graduate of North Tama High School in 1975, Jerry continued his education at Hawkeye Tech, where he obtained a degree in Agriculture Technology. This educational background paved the way for a remarkable career as a Farm Equipment Mechanic. For 42 years, Jerry dedicated his skills and expertise to John Deere Implements, most recently working with Van Wall Implement in Grundy Center, from which he retired earlier in 2025.
In addition to his professional achievements, Jerry was a man of diverse interests and talents. He embraced life with enthusiasm, engaging in numerous hobbies that brought him joy. His love for the outdoors was evident in his pastime activities such as fishing, hunting, and gardening. Additionally, Jerry had a passion for golf and enjoyed playing pool, often sharing these joyful moments with family and friends.
Jerry is preceded in death by his parents, George and Marcella, his sister Deb Mundt, and his brother-in-law Eldon Posusta. He is survived by his loving girlfriend, Sally Catherwood, who shared in his journey and brought warmth to his life. Jerry’s family includes three devoted siblings: Jim Dvorak (Carol), Delores Posusta, and Jeff Dvorak (Rhonda). He was a proud father to his son, Jeremy Dvorak (Maria), and found immense joy in being a grandfather to his three grandchildren: Dax, Cable, and Bentley Dvorak. Jerry also leaves behind seven beloved nieces and nephews, who will fondly remember him.
Jerry's visitation will be held on December 2, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Overton Funeral Homes, located at 714 1st St, Traer, Iowa. A funeral service will take place at St. Paul Catholic Church on December 3, 2025, beginning at 10:30 AM, followed by a burial at Holy Trinity Cemetery in Toledo, Iowa, at 11:45 AM.
