VILLE PLATTE - Funeral services for Jerry Louis Gradney will be held on Monday, July 17, 2023 at 3:00 PM at Ardoin’s Funeral Home. Burial will take place in the New St. Ann’s Cemetery with Deacon Ben Soileau conducting services. Jerry passed away at his residence on Friday, July 14, 2023 at the age of 65.
Jerry Louis Gradney was born on Monday, January 13, 1958 in Ville Platte, Louisiana to George and Vergie Mae Gradney, Sr. Jerry was a friendly person who always knew everyone around. He was a person who enjoyed helping others in any way he could even if it required giving them “the shirt off his back.” Jerry was a mechanic by trade and owned his own business but he also knew how to do a wide variety of things. Jerry loved being outdoors hunting, fishing, and spending time in the woods especially in John Reed. He was loved by many and will be greatly missed.
Jerry is survived by his companion of 22 years, Sheila Fontenot; three daughters, Misty McCullough, Ashley Hawkins, and Tiffany Howell; three sisters, Georgia Mae and husband, Jerry King of Mamou, Debra Rollins of Turkey Creek, and Melissa Gradney of Oakdale; and three brothers, Kenneth Gradney and wife, Ronda of Lafayette, Kevin Gradney of Pine Prairie, and George Gradney, Jr. of Mamou. Also left behind to cherish his memory are his seven grandchildren, Segan Clark, Jaylin Clark, Bladen Clark, Lexie Hawkins, Anna Hawkins, Kamdon Ray, and Karlee Ray.
Jerry is preceded in death by his parents, George Gradney, Sr. and Vergie Mae Papillion Gradney; sister, Anna Mae Delafose and Rose Gradney; and brother, Uyless Gradney.
At the request of the family, visitation will be held at Ardoin’s Funeral Home in Ville Platte on Monday, July 17, 2023 beginning at 10:00 AM until 3:00 PM service.
