Jerry Grimes Obituary

He was born June 23, 1941 in Chesterfield, NH to Earl and Rose (Collis) Grimes. He grew up in the Brattleboro, VT area and graduated from Brattleboro Union High School. In his early years, Jerry worked in construction. He moved to Chichester in the mid 1970's and began working as a cook in the hospitality industry before being injured and retiring.
He enjoyed time with family and friends, being outside, and in earlier years deer hunting, fishing and gardening, while indoors he tended to plants and flowers and would relax while doing puzzles. During a short time living in Florida, Jerry volunteered with his church doing prison ministry, which he so truly loved being involved with.
He is survived by his wife, Marilyn (Thayer) Grimes of Gilford, a son Jerry "Jay"(Judy Huggins) Grimes, Jr. of Jay, FL; daughter Tammy (David) Roberge of Laconia, other family includes Jennifer Songer (Peter Cassels) of Shelburne, VT; brother George (Judy) Grimes of Russellville, KY; grandchildren Jennifer (Andrew Vinnacomb) Riopel, Ashley (Matt Resca) Riopel, Shawn (Tristan Pierce) Roberge, Joshua (Tiffany) Roberge, Nicole (Matt) Parker, Christine Roberge, Ryan (Katelynn) Grimes, Shane (Karissa) Grimes, Kate (Torrey Kelty) Songer, Dustin Songer and Nathan Songer; great-grandchildren Andrew, Rylynn, Braxlee, Hannah, Warren, Cameron and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a son Douglas Earl Grimes; brothers Alfred, Allen, Ralph and Frank Grimes and sister Alice Dembek.
There are no calling hours.
A Celebration of life will be held on Tuesday, April 15th at 11;00 am at the West Brattleboro Baptist Church, 979 Western Avenue, Brattleboro, VT.
Interment will follow at the Christ Church Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations may be made in Jerry's name to the Belknap County Nursing Home, 30 County Drive, Laconia, NH 03246
