Jerry Hester Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Kilpatrick Funeral Home - West Monroe on Dec. 6, 2025.
Jerry Earl Hester, 81, transitioned peacefully from this life on December 2, 2025, at St. Francis Medical Center. Born February 13, 1944, in Winnsboro, Louisiana, Jerry grew up in Baskin and West Monroe, where he attended West Monroe High School, before eventually making Monroe his longtime home.
A proud Vietnam War veteran, Jerry served his country with honor in the United States Air Force. Following his military service, he built a successful career as a general contractor. Among his many accomplishments, he took special pride in contributing to the construction of the New Orleans Superdome.
Jerry was a devoted New Orleans Saints fan, cheering on his team with unwavering loyalty. Known for his sharp wit and irresistible humor, he loved to laugh, tell stories, and spend time with neighbors, friends, and family. Gifted with his hands, he could fix or build just about anything and delighted in do-it-yourself projects. He also enjoyed classic rock, fast cars, and the simple pleasures of everyday life.
Jerry's legacy lives on through his daughter, Amanda Hester Adamson, and her husband, Steve Adamson, of Chattanooga, Tennessee; his grandchildren, Ethan, Hannah, and Lillie; and his great-grandson, Jack. He is also survived by his sisters, Linda Sutton Clark (Junior), Susie Sutton Swinea (Gary), Georgia Hester Spitz, Janice Hester Galindo, and Trudy Hester Fiechtner.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John Truman Hester and Mildred L. McNair Sutton; his beloved sister, Billie Sutton Roberts; and his brothers, Mark Sutton and Johnny Sutton.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 10, at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery on Highway 80 in Monroe. A family and friend gathering will follow at a family home in West Monroe.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Unity Urban Ministerial School (UUMS) in honor of Jerry's commitment to service and education.
Burial arrangements are under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Monroe, Louisiana. To send flowers to the family or plant a tree in memory of Jerry, please visit our floral store.
