"When everything fails look up to Jesus" by Jerry Marney

Jerry Dean Marney, age 86 of Bangs, Texas passed away on March 3, 2026. He was born in Clayton, New Mexico, March 13, 1939.

Jerry loved the Lord and his heart belonged to missions. For many years, he drove to the poorest areas of Mexico and Central America in his converted ice cream truck/RV spreading the gospel and distributing clothes. In recent years, Jerry enjoyed cruising, a ship was another mission field with a large captive audience. No port in the Gulf was immune from hearing the good news of Jesus when Jerry was on board. He always carried a handmade symbol of Christ's love, a wooden palm cross or an angel ornament that he would gift to strangers. This interaction opened the door to witnessing. Jerry was a proud military veteran and a member of High Mesa Cowboy Church in Brownwood, Texas.

Jerry was a master of many trades. He was a skilled carpenter who with his dad repurposed old buses into luxury RV's. Jerry also knew his way around automobiles. His experience as a mechanic and paint and body tech led him to build his crown jewel a "Trug", combo VW bug/truck. He also built several carnival rides and traveled the carnival circuit for a few years. His mind never stopped creating and his mouth never stopped witnessing about the Lord.

He is survived by his children Rita Hagan (Brandon), Danny Marney (Jeana), Tommy Marney (Donna), Tony Marney (Beth), Anna Baker (Chris). He has seven grandchildren, Ashley (Justin), Brady (Aiyin), JD (Kandace), Riana (Tristan), Sarah, Hannah, Chrissa (Jesse); and ten great-grandchildren: Owen, Gavin, Kaylie, Jaylie, Samantha, Logan, Emily, Isaac, Benjamin and Jordan; his sister Alena Thomas (Eddie), brothers, Marvin and Delbert as well as his beloved fur-baby Taco.

He has been reunited with his beloved wife of 65 years Carol Ann Marney; his parents Doyle and Georgia Mae Marney; sister Modena and brothers Otis, Chester, and Lester.

The family is eternally grateful to the entire team at Gentiva Hospice for their dedication, love, and support.

In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made to a mission cause of your choice.
