It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Jerry David Melton, age 62 of Ozark on August 28, 2025.
He was born September 9, 1962 to Harold and Judy (Adams) Melton. He grew up in Ozark, Missouri and graduated from Ozark High School in 1980.
At the age of 18 Jerry joined the United States Navy and served on the USS Portland LSD37. He was called to duty for rescue and recovery after the terriorist attack on the Marine barracks in the Beirut.
Jerry found peace and hope in the fellowship of Alcoholics Anonymous and achieved 25 years sobriety. He always had his hand out to help others on their road to recovery. He chaired the meetings and spoke with experience, strength and hope.
Jerry was an avid fisherman and hunter. He found peace and serenity in nature and taught two generations the love of outdoors. Jerry was a member of Kickin' Kountry Dancers for several years. He enjoyed many hours on the dance floor.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; daughters, Amber Rose and Misty Dawn; and a brother, Billy Melton.
Jerry is survived by his wife Jeanette Melton; children by choice, Forrest Lewis (Samantha), Lucinda Misemer (Kyle), Dallas Adams (Jacob); 13 grandchildren; a sister, Beverly Marshall (Steve); and a brother, Delbert Melton (Missy); and a sister in law, Robbin Melton).
Jerry will be remembered for his strong work ethic, humor, compassion for others and his faith in God.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. On Wednesday, September 3, 2025 at Adams Funeral Home, Ozark, with Pastor Jeremy Gilbert officiating. Burial with a Patriot Guard procession and full military honors will follow at Prospect Cemetery, Ozark. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 2, 2025 at Adams Funeral Home, Ozark.
