Jerry Lawson Morgan, age 79, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 10, 2026, at his home surrounded by his family. He was born on May 20, 1946, in Sale Creek, Tennessee, to William Lawson and Catherine Cherry Morgan.

Jerry had a big heart and loved rescuing dogs. He had a gift for making friends wherever he went and never met a stranger. He was a loving husband, devoted father, and proud grandfather who touched the lives of everyone he came in contact with.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a grandson, Jared Lane Smith; and brothers Lamar, Allen, Malcolm, Larry, and Gary Morgan.

He is survived by his spouse of 55 years, Brenda Nichols Morgan; a daughter, Carmen (Ryan) Smith of Knoxville, Tennessee; brothers Lee Roy (Vickie) Morgan of Pikeville, Tennessee, and Billy Joe Morgan of Dayton; grandchildren Christopher Chad Poston of Knoxville, Tennessee, Jeffery Lance (Brittany Norman) Smith of Knoxville, Tennessee, Jules Xavia (Jeannie) Smith of Knoxville, Tennessee, Garrett Alaster Smith of Evensville, Tennessee, Benjamin Michael (Taylor Donohoe) Smith of Ladson, S.C., and Kimberly Parker, spouse of the late Jared Lane Smith. He is also survived by great-grandchildren Duncan Norman, Graham Norman, Tucker Norman, Buffy Smith, David Smith, and Alexander Smith.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, March 15, 2026, at 3:00 PM at the Cornerstone Church of God in Dayton, Tennessee, with Pastor Terry Trussell and Pastor L.J. Davis officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 1:00 PM until the time of service. Burial will follow in Burchard Cemetery in Dayton, Tennessee.
