Jerry R. Porter

Jerry R. Porter, 84 years, of Lambertville, MI passed away Thursday, December 5, 2024 in Ebeid Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Sylvania. An experienced electrician and member of IBEW Local 8, he owned and operated his own electrical contracting business, Masters Electric for 20 years. The son of Kenneth and Ruby Porter he was born April 5, 1940 in Toledo.
Jerry was passionate about sailing and sailboat racing since 1982 and was a longtime member of North Cape Yacht Club in LaSalle, MI where he loved hanging out with friends and playing Euchre. He loved charter sailing with friends in the Caribbean and visiting many of the islands over numerous years. Jerry had been an avid golfer, was a small plane pilot, and in his youth, he raced cars. He was always keeping busy with woodworking or some home project that he could use his skills toward. Jerry always looked forward to and enjoyed seeing his family members.
He is survived by his loving wife of 24 years, Michelle (Cargill) Porter; daughters, Kimberly Mosley, Kellie (Richie) Harding, Kristen Miller; nephew raised as a son, Michael (Anne) Veh; grandchildren, Jasmine and Justin Mosley, Jonathan Wills, Addison and Bailey Harding, Chelsea Miller (Trent) Weating, Craig (fiancée Danielle Crosby) Miller, Molly (Ellie) Veh, Michael (Mac) Veh; great-grandchildren, Mason and Madalynn Crosby, Maverick Miller; and ex-wife and friend, Barbara Heckel Porter. He was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Scott Miller; sister, Mary Porter Atwood and half-sister, Betty McClellan Veh.
Visitation will be Wednesday, December 11, 2024 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. in the Urbanski's Bedford Funeral Chapel 8300 Lewis Ave. Temperance, MI where a memorial service will be held at 6:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to North Cape Sailing School.
