A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM Monday, February 10, 2025, at St. Peter Catholic Church with interment following in the St. James Cemetery. Father Tomasz Golab will officiate. Mr. Reed, age 80, entered into the eternal rest of his Lord Friday morning, February 7, 2025, at his residence in Carson. Saulters Moore Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.
The family will receive friends Monday morning at St. Peter Parish Hall, beginning at 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM, with the Rosary Prayer Service beginning at 9:00 AM.
Mr. Reed will be carried to his final rest by those honored to serve as pallbearers; they include Tyler Prine, Billy Boleware, Jr., Ricky Adams, Richard Hanegan, Bentley Blansett, and Ace Aultman.
Jerry C. Reed was born on November 16, 1944 in Mobile, AL to Andrew and Mary Bryant Reed. A United States Navy veteran, he served in the Vietnam War. Mr. Reed worked many years in the Oilfield industry for Odeco. Later in life, he transitioned to a career in truck driving, retiring from Adams Trucking in Laurel, MS. Mr. Reed will be remembered as a man that loved all things about mechanic work and could fix anything. He had a talent for not only repairing lawn mowers, but also small engines. He was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Reed is preceded in death by his brothers, Kyle Reed, Andre Reed and sister, Pamela Reed.
His memory will forever be cherished by his daughters, Lisa Godinez (Saul) of Fredericksburg, VA, Renita Prine (Terry) of Petal, Elaine Powell (Roger Dyess) of Carson; sons, Jerry Reed, Jr. (Jennifer) of Cumming, GA, Jarrett Reed of Caldwell, KS, Zach Reed of Laurel; his brother, Mitchell Reed of Florence, AL; 8 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Mr Reed also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews and cousins .
The family wishes to express special appreciation to Forrest General Hospice and Amedysis Home Care; nurses, Michelle Reid and Michelle Savoie and his caregiver, Richard Hanegan for their compassion and care during Mr. Reed's illness.
