Hartsville, S.C.

Jerry Faye Rivers of Hartsville, S.C. entered his home in glory on December 10, 2023 at the age of 89. Jerry is a Veteran of the U.S. Army 1955-1957. He had a 36 year career working for Sonoco in Hartsville and retired early at the age of 55. Jerry enjoyed 34 years of doing things his way, which included building his family home. Jerry was a faithful member of the Emmanuel Baptist Church of Hartsville for 60 plus years.

Jerry’s life will be forever celebrated by his wife Frances Hunt Rivers of 68 years of marriage together, also two daughters, Swan Hokstad (Bill) of Chapin, S.C. and Sabrena Rolfe (Earle) of Hartsville; three grandchildren, Ian Hokstad, Seth Hokstad, Jeremy Rolfe and one great grandson, Ian V. Hokstad.

Jerry was an avid hunter and fisherman with a hobby of breeding Champion Beagles for hunting.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 1:00 at the Chapel of Norton Funeral Home. Rev. Jonathan Bradshaw and Rev. John Hamilton will officiate. Burial will be in the Hurst Cemetery in Chesterfield.  The family will be receiving friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

The family gives thanks to Crescent Hospice and his private care giver Charlene who provided quality care with much love.
