Jerry Rodgers Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Scottsboro Funeral Home on Mar. 16, 2026.
Granville Jerry Rodgers, age 83 of Shelbyville, Tennessee, passed away on March 15, 2026, leaving behind a lifetime of memories, love, and devotion to those closest to him. Affectionately known by his family as "UJ," Jerry was born in Hollywood, Alabama, where he grew up surrounded by family and the strong values of hard work, loyalty, and caring for others-qualities that defined the way he lived his life.

Jerry proudly served his country as a Military Police officer in the United States Army. His service reflected his strong sense of duty and commitment to protecting others. After returning home, he spent many years working as an auto mechanic, a job he truly enjoyed. He was known for his ability to fix almost anything and for always being willing to lend a helping hand when someone needed it.

Above all else, Jerry loved his family. He married the love of his life, Mary, and together they shared a bond built on love, dedication, and years of memories.

Jerry is survived by his daughter, Donna Rodgers; his two grandsons, Brandon (Julia) Rodgers and Hunter Rodgers; his sister, Carolyn Rodgers; his brother, Mike (LaJune) Rodgers; and his sister-in-law, Linda Price. He also leaves behind many extended family members and friends who will forever hold his memory close to their hearts.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Wright Rodgers, parents, Sam and Lucy Rodgers; his sister, Faye Evett; and his brothers, Kenneth Rodgers, Wayne Rodgers, Melvin Rodgers, Rayford Rodgers, and Keith Rodgers.

Jerry will be remembered for his steady presence, his hardworking spirit, and the love he had for his family. Though he may be gone from this world, the memories he created and the love he shared will remain in the hearts of those who knew him. His family takes comfort in knowing he is now reunited with those who went before him.

His life was a simple one, but it was full of meaning-measured not by wealth or recognition, but by the love he gave and the lives he touched. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

Graveside Service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 19, 2026 at Huntsville Memory Gardens with Bro. Jay Dearing officiating. The family will receive friends at the Scottsboro Home on Thursday, March 19, 2026 beginning at 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.
