Funeral services for Mr. Jerry Rucker, 78, of Longview, Texas will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, November 8, 2025, at the Hawthorn Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Tommy Dorgan and Lane Langford officiating. Burial will follow in the Antioch Cemetery under the direction of Hawthorn Funeral Home. Visitation will be 5-7:00 p.m. Friday night at Hawthorns.
Mr. Jerry Claxton Rucker was born April 17, 1947, in San Angelo, Texas. He passed this life November 5, 2025, in Longview, Texas. Jerry was the middle child of three born to the marriage of Nelda Mae Coppedge and Aubra Claxton Rucker. He was raised and schooled in McCamey, Texas graduating with the high school class of 1965. Jerry married his love Judy Gail Baker May 10, 1975, and together they celebrated 50 years of marriage and raised three children.
Mr. Rucker worked in maintenance for over 20 years and served as maintenance and transportation director for Pine Tree Schools in Longview before his retirement. In his retirement years he was a known and skilled woodworker. He is preceded in death by his parents and brothers, James and Billy Rucker.
Mr. Rucker is survived by his loving wife Judy Rucker of Longview; children, Tammy Johnston and husband Jeff of Jasper, AR, Jerry Don Rucker of Longview, Jason Rucker and wife Mindy of Henderson; sister-in-law, Becky Rucker of Burleson; grandchildren, Timothy Donoghue, Kallie Myers and husband Tyler, Jacob Rucker and wife Jamie, Emma Rucker and fiancé Nathan Rudnik, Faith Rucker and Grace Rucker; great grandchildren, Bradyn, Landon, Peyton, Jaycee and Nolan.
Serving as pallbearers will be Jerry Don Rucker, Jason Rucker, Timothy Donoghue, Tyler Myers, Jeff Johnston and Kevin "Bones" Postell. The family suggests memorials to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in his name.
