Jerry "J.R." Louis Russo, Sr., 83, passed away on Friday October 24, 2025, at his residence, after a period of declining health.
Jerry was born September 29, 1942, in Washington DC, a son of the late Mario and Ruth Newton Russo. He retired as a warehouse manager with Canteen, Inc. Jerry loved his family and being around people. He was known for always driving a clean and sporty hotrod car.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife and mother of his children, Mackie Lowman; his second wife, Nora Ann Chester; and sister, Annaree Russo.
Those left to cherish his memory are his children, Jerry L. (Chip) Russo, Jr, (Donna), Tammy Antoniou (Tracey), Angie Barrier (Jeff); and stepson, Richard Shew (Tracy). Also surviving are his nine grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; and two great great-grandchildren.
A Service of Remembrance will be held at 3 p.m., Sunday, November 2, 2025, in the Chapel of Heritage Funeral Service, Valdese, N.C., with Rev. Charles Howard Ray, III officiating.
The family will receive friends from 2 until 3 p.m., Sunday, at Heritage Funeral Service Valdese.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to VIA Hospice at https://www.viagiving.org/donating.
