Jerry Glen Sampler “Poppy”, age 76, passed away on October 19, 2024 at his home in Custer City, OK. He was born on August 19, 1948, in Oklahoma City, OK to Jesse Lee and Louisa Margarette Sampler. On August 31, 1968, Jerry married the love of his life, Sue Ann Woodall, in Blair, OK.
Jerry worked in the banking industry for forty years in Texas and Oklahoma. He enjoyed fishing, working in his yard and most of all, spending time with family.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Gene Sampler. Jerry is survived by his wife Sue of the home; his son, John Sampler and his wife, Penny (Prairie Village, KS); his daughter, Jennifer Maddox and her husband Heath (Custer City, OK); his brother, Dean Sampler (Kennisaw, GA) and his sister-in-law, Kim Sampler (Clovis, New Mexico); his five grandchildren, Jake, Luke and Will Sampler and Kenzie and Regan Maddox, along with nephews, nieces, other relatives and many friends.
Jerry was a true gentleman, a man of integrity who never met a stranger. He was a man of God who exemplified every Fruit of the Spirit: Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control, by his words and his actions.
We will forever miss Poppy’s love and steadfast support.
