Jerry D. Smith, 85, of Bethany, Missouri, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, December 25, 2025.

Jerry was born on May 31, 1940, in Washington Center, Missouri, to Ira and Artie (Smith) Smith. He graduated from Martinsville High School in 1958. He met Marilyn Evelene (Smith) Smith in high school, and they were united in marriage on November 6, 1960, at Wesley Chapel Church in Washington Center. To this union of 65 years, they had two sons and a daughter, Roger, Todd and Kathy. Jerry and Marilyn spent their early married years in Washington Center and the past 60 years in Bethany.

Jerry enjoyed hunting, fishing and many outdoor activities. Jerry was a long-time member of Morris Chapel Community Church and over the past several decades he volunteered for many organizations including the Bethany Volunteer Fire Department, Lions Club, Odd Fellows Lodge, Morris Chapel Community Church Board and Miriam Cemetery Board. Jerry was well-known by his numerous propane customers throughout the area.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Ira and Artie Smith, and his sisters, Dixie Nichols, Donna Fish and twin sister Joan Beals. Jerry is survived by his wife, Marilyn Smith of the home; sons, Roger (Elizabeth) Smith of Bethany, Missouri, Todd (Almeda) Smith of Farmington, Minnesota and daughter Kathy (Jerry) Price of Bethany, Missouri; grandchildren, Cody (Mallory) Smith of Gilman City, Missouri, Jessica Smith of Cameron, Missouri, Danny (Sarah) Smith of Harrisonville, Missouri, Ryan Smith of Raytown, Missouri, Lee Wimer of Bethany, Missouri, Chase (Natasha) Wimer of Ridgeway, Missouri, Nicole (Jake) Ellis of Coffey, Missouri, Kevin (Wendy) Smith of Raymond, Nebraska, Nathaniel (Hope) Smith of Blue Springs, Missouri, Alexander Smith, Sterling Smith and Squire Smith of Overland Park, Kansas, Abigail Smith and William Smith of Farmington, Minnesota, Jeremiah (Kaylee) Price of Stanberry, Missouri and Jerika (Tyler) DeWitt of Trenton, Missouri; and many great-grandchildren, brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Monday December 29, 2025 at Immanuel Baptist Church, 4207 Miller St., Bethany, MO 64424. Burial will follow in Miriam Cemetery, Bethany, MO. The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 3:00 p.m. Monday at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to Miriam Cemetery in care of Roberson Funeral Home P.O. Box 46 Bethany, MO 64424.
