Jerry L. Swanson

Jerry L. Swanson, age 81, passed away Sunday, December 21, 2025, in his residence.

Jerry was born June 21, 1944, in Superior, WI to Betty Gayle (Amundson) and Leonard Nels Swanson. He began working at age 13 on a large dairy farm in Cloverland, WI. When Jerry was 19, he moved to Oregon and began working for the Lloyd Clark Pipeline. On April 3, 1965, he would marry Georgia Ann Harnstrom in Washington State before returning and settling in Poplar, WI. Georgia and Jerald would have celebrated 60 years of marriage this coming April. You could often hear Jerry, a Ford guy and his father, a Chevy man, bantering on which vehicle brand was superior. Jerry was a good-hearted man who loved the Lord, his family, and animals.

Jerry had worked for Rueben Johnson & Sons, Murphy Oil Refinery where he was a member of the Emergency Response Team. He also owned J. L. Swanson and Son Grading and Excavating. He was well known as a master equipment operator. Jerry was a former member of the Village Board in the Village of Poplar and was very generous with his time and talents.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his uncle, Sigford Swanson.

Jerry is lovingly survived by his wife, Georgia; daughter, Michelle and son, Jason; he is further survived by his sisters, Sharon Bortnem, Beth (Jerry) Culhane and Lee Laswell.

Visitation will be Friday, January 2, 2026, from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Downs Life Celebration Center, 1902 North 34th Street, Superior. Visitation will continue at Mission Covenant Church, 5161 County Road P, Poplar, WI from 11:00 a.m. until the 12:00 p.m. Funeral Service on Saturday, January 3, 2026. Interment will be in the Poplar Cemetery.
