Jerry Tague, aged 80, zoomed off to the great racetrack in the sky on August 25, 2025, in Zephyrhills, Florida. Born on January 11, 1945, in Jackson County, Missouri, Jerry lived life in the fast lane-literally and figuratively.
A maestro with a wrench, Jerry spent his days as an auto and race car mechanic before launching his own ventures, J.T. Racing and the American Mini Sprint Association (AMSA). If it had wheels, Jerry could make it fly-or at least try.
Known for his infectious laugh and zest for life, Jerry was a jolly man who loved racing mini sprint cars almost as much as he loved the people around him. He had an uncanny ability to turn a simple day into an adventure, leaving everyone with stories that guaranteed a chuckle.
Jerry is survived by his three beloved daughters: Stephanie (Sheryl Mikel), Sharon Remaly, and Tori (Brad) McCrory, who all inherited his need for speed in one way or another. His brother, Mike (Jenny) Lisby, and sisters, Diana (Doug) Horlacher and Brenda (Larry) Dukes, will also remember his quick wit and even quicker smile. Jerry's legacy continues with his five grandchildren, Alisha (Cody) Payne, Tye Remaly, Nathan McCrory, C.J. McCrory, and Kaitlyn McCrory, as well as his adorable great-grandchildren, Kinzleigh and Lydia Payne, who will no doubt hear tales of their great-grandfather's legendary antics on and off the track.
Services to honor Jerry will be held in Indiana, where friends and family will gather to celebrate his life with laughter and perhaps a few stories too wild to believe but too good not to share. Rest in peace, Jerry-may your afterlife be filled with endless laps and laughter. To plant a beautiful memorial tree in memory of Jerry, please visit our Tree Store.
