Judith Aftosmes Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Coastal Cremations and Funeral Care - Lutz Chapel on Dec. 2, 2025.
On December 1, 2025, Judy Aftosmes decided it was time to test out the heavenly Scrabble board at the age of 85. Born on April 7, 1940, in Worcester, Massachusetts, Judy lived a life as colorful and creative as her favorite crafts. She passed away in Lutz, Florida, where she's undoubtedly now adding a touch of Disney magic to the clouds.
Judy spent her career as a registered nurse and doing psychiatric testing on veterans, as well as children, a role she filled with unmatched dedication and warmth. Her gentle humor and caring nature surely provided solace to many brave souls.
When she wasn't working, Judy could be found transforming blocks of wood into works of art, painting, or concocting crafty creations. Her hands were never idle, except perhaps while holding her beloved Scrabble tiles. With her friend Linda, she played games so competitive that even the dictionary had to take a break.
A self-proclaimed Disney "addict," Judy's love for all things Mickey and Minnie will live on through the twinkle in her family's eyes. Known for her wonderful sense of humor and strong work ethic, she leaves behind a legacy of laughter and resilience.
Preceded in death by her brother Bruce and parents Newell and Doris Taylor, Judy is survived by a loving family who will always cherish her memory: sons Michael (Carma) Aftosmes and George "Jody" Aftosmes (Junko Fukuma); daughters Caterina (Greg) Brown and Debbie Aftousmes-Kristensen. Her brothers David Taylor and Rick (Jaline) Taylor and sister Patricia (Bill) DeMalia will keep Judy's spirit alive with fond memories. Sister-in-law Myong and her numerous grandchildren-Caris, Tessa, Mason, McKenzie, Veronica, Meri, and D.J.-along with great-granddaughter Riley, will carry forward her joyous legacy.
Her cats, Sheba and Muffin, will no doubt miss the gentle hands that cared for them. She will also be remembered by her community of close friends. To plant a beautiful memorial tree in memory of Judith, please visit our Tree Store.
