Jerry Matthew Tate, affectionately known as Mikey to most, was a loving and devoted father, son, Brother, Grandson, nephew, and friend.
Jerry was born on March 5 1999 at Daniel Freeman Cir hospital in Inglewood CA to Patrick Lydell Tate and Maria Ramona Lopez and was raised by Lorena Aguilar He was born a twin to Steve Tate and had two older siblings his big sister Donmonik Patrice Tate and his older brother Patrick Lydell Tate JR The mom that raised him watched him grow up to be the father & person that he was, she might not have given birth to him but she was there every step of the way, since he was 5 years old she took him in as her own son.
Jerry was a cheerful and goofy boy from the beginning. He grew up in a full house-literally. He was the 4th of nine kids, squeezed in between a chaos of siblings, and part of a dynamic duo-he had a twin brother, Steve. He learned early on how to stand out-not by being the loudest, but by being the funniest. He was a father of 2 outgoing children, Jaidyn Matthew Tate and Layla Marie Tate. His sense of humor became his superpower, turning tough days into something people could laugh through.
From the time he was 4 years old playing T-ball to playing basketball in 8th grade to Football in Highschool Jerry was always athletic. Jerry continued to play basketball in his adult years, he would often go down to Stephen Sorensen Park and play basketball with his two younger twin sisters, Alia and Amia Tate. Holidays were a whole event. Thanksgiving? That wasn't just food-it was dirt bikes. Jerry, Steve, Antwan, Mel, Patrick, Jordan, and Dad would rip up and down the block, engines echoing through the neighborhood like their own celebration anthem. And summer? Forget water parks. The real fun was right in front of their house on Cool Water Avenue, 176th Street, where epic water balloon fights broke out in the front yard. Buckets lined up, kids dodging and ducking, trying to hurt each other, and just having fun. Jerry lived for those moments-pure, wild, and full of life.
He touched the lives of those around him with his infectious laughter and caring nature. Our family is devastated by the sudden loss of Jerry. The void left by his passing is immeasurable, and he will be dearly missed by all who were touched by his love and kindness.
