Jerry William Walker of Grayling, age 89, passed away peacefully on December 19, 2025 at The Brook of Grayling. He was born on March 3, 1936 to James W. and Suvilla (Fondren) Walker in Eudora, AR.
Jerry moved from Arkansas to Houston, TX at a very young age. He graduated from Galena Park High School where he enjoyed playing all the basic sports. He enlisted into the U.S. Army after high school and while on duty/assignment he met Dorothy Millikin at one of the local diners in Grayling, MI while staying at the Pointe North of Grayling Motel. Soon after meeting Dorothy and marrying her, he began working at Millikin's Excavating. He grew with the company and became part owner. Jerry later in life also ventured into banking and became a founding member of the Northern National Bank where he retired from.
He was an avid golfer and a lifetime member of the Grayling Country Club. He and his wife Dorothy enjoyed social events like bowling and golfing. They played golf in the mixed doubles league. They had a nice retirement home in Florida for 20 years. Jerry used his VA benefit to obtain his pilot's license and loved to fly.
Jerry is survived by his wife of 69 years, Dorothy Walker of Grayling; sons, Steven (Debra) Walker of Gaylord and Danny (Valerie) Walker of Grayling; grandchildren, Megan (Andy) Triebold and James (Dina) Walker; great-grandchildren, Owen Triebold and Nico Triebold; sibling, Ruthann Groba; and many nieces and nephews.
Jerry is preceded in death by granddaughter, Stacie Walker; siblings, Billie Joyce, Margaret, Virginia, Jamey, and David; and both of his parents.
A graveside burial will be held in the Spring of 2026 at Elmwood Cemetery in Grayling, MI.
