Jerry Ward

Jerry Ward, of Boaz AL., 81 years old, passed away on April 15, 2023, as he was hospitalized at Huntsville Hospital of terminal cancer. He is survived by his two children, Scott Ward and Terri Ward of Fayetteville GA., 17 grandchildren and great grandchildren, three brothers, Tommy and (Jennie) Ward, of Huntsville, AL, Greg Ward (Valorie) of Douglasville, GA., Warren Ward of Newnan, GA, and three sisters, Cynthia Curry (Grover)of Fairburn, GA., Carolyn Jenkins, of Tyrone, GA, and Alice Wheat (Bobby) of Newnan, GA., and many nephews and nieces. He is preceded in death by his parents, Dorothy Dobson Ward, and Melvin Jerry Ward of Red Oak, GA., also preceded in death, Jessie Merriell Jenkins.
He graduated from Campbell High School of Fairburn, GA in 1960. He was a football and track star setting many records. After high school, he served in the Army from 1965 to 1972 based in Colorado. Jerry worked for Delta Air Lines for 10 years, and after moving to Boaz, he sold real estate for Alabama Home Construction for 18 years. The last place he worked in his life was for his brother Tom Ward, in Huntsville, AL., Tom Ward Tax Service for several years.
Jerry always enjoyed his hobbies of gardening, motor cycles, tinkering with tractors, buying and selling merchandise out of his home for motor cycles, and cutting his grass. He would always make you laugh when you were around him. He had a great sense of humor. He could remember cute jokes, and he would always remember the punch line.
A celebration of remembrance will be held on Thursday, April 20, 2023 at 2 o'clock in the Chapel of Parrot Funeral Home, Fairburn GA. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.
