Jess "A.F" Allen Frederick Black III

Jess "A.F." Allen Frederick Black III, 64 of Follansbee, WV, passed away on Wednesday, October 22, 2025 at UPMC Shadyside, Pittsburgh, PA.
Jess was born on December 30, 1960 in Wheeling, WV. He was the son of late Jess Allen Frederick Black Sr. and Martha Lee (Robinson) Black.
Jess was a devoted member of Calvary Baptist Church in Follansbee, WV, where he lived out his quiet faith through kindness and service. For over 17 years, he worked with Change Inc. Weatherization, helping those in need and improving lives throughout his trade.
A hardworking truck driver for more than 22 years at 84 Lumber - in addition to running his own business, JB Trucking - Jess dedicated his life to his work and to providing for his family. Many will remember Jess as a loving husband and father who always put others before himself.
He had a heart for helping anyone in need - whether it was lending a hand, sharing a laugh, or brightening someone's day with one of his famous jokes. Jess was known for his humor, generosity, and unwavering work ethic. He truly was the hardest working man.
In addition to her parents, Jess was preceded in death by his son, Joe "PJ" George Black IV.
Jess is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Goldie (Walnoha) Black, a daughter, Amanda Black, three grandchildren, Taylor Harwatt and Harold and Madalyn Masters and a great granddaughter, niece and nephew, Kryslyn and Carter Corso and many cousins.
Family and friends will be received on Monday, October 27, 2025 from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 PM and again on Tuesday, October 28, 2025 from 10:00 AM until time of Funeral Service at 11:00 AM at the James Funeral Home, Follansbee, WV (304)527-1717 with Pastor Tim Colvin, officiating.
Interment will follow at St. John Cemetery Haven of Rest, Colliers, WV.
