Jesse Gay Armitage was born August 28, 1974 to Carolyn Gay Kissel and Gerald Wayne Armitage in San Diego, California. She was the youngest of 6 children, "Heidi, Carrie, Grant, Kaati, Amy, Jesse!", as her parents called them to the dinner table. Being the "baby" of their family, Jesse was extremely loved and doted upon.
As a child, Jesse enjoyed being outdoors, playing with her siblings, friends, and many pets. She taught herself how to play the guitar and would play and sing songs by her favorite artists, like Edie Brickell and Sarah McLachlan. But she was extremely humble in her talents, never seeking recognition.
Jesse graduated from Chaparral High School in Las Vegas, participating in the Performing Arts singing groups and choirs.
Jesse joined the Navy in 1994 and spent 27 years serving and touring the world as she advanced in rate and rank. She was stationed in Corpus Christi, TX on the USS Inchon; Orem, UT as a Navy Recruiter; in Washington DC in 2009 as personal Flag Aid to Admiral Michael Mullen at the Pentagon; in Everett, WA, on the USS Abraham Lincoln, where she participated in the Humanitarian efforts following the devastating Tsunami of 2004; and in her home town of San Diego, CA as Assistant Flag Aid to Rear Admiral P.J. Lorge, Rear Admiral Dixon Smith, Rear Admiral Yancy Lindsey, and Rear Admiral Bette Bolivar. Jesse retired as YNCS Senior Chief in 2021.
Jesse married her "soul mate", Lisa Jorgensen, after serving many years in the Navy together, and they continued to do so. Jesse cherished their precious pet cats, Edie and Piper, and later Max and Leo. Jesse also enjoyed participating in dozens of 5K, 10K and Half Marathons with Lisa, benefitting many charities.
Jesse loved her family and they would spend most vacations visiting parents, siblings, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Everyone Loved to be with Jesse with her incredible sense of humor, endless energy, and compassion for everyone. She was FUN in every sense of the word and "she always had your back."
We know Jesse has returned to her heavenly home and welcomed there by her loving family and her Heavenly Parents, nevertheless We will miss her greatly. She was a shining light to all who knew and associated with her.
Jesse is preceded in death by her spouse, Lisa Jorgensen, and her mother and step-father, Carolyn and Donald Kissel.
Jesse is survived by her father, Gerald W. Armitage, and siblings, Heidi (Greg) Valle, Carrie (Scott) Ruppe, Grant Armitage, Kathleen (Richard) Guzman, Amy Armitage, Jennifer Devereaux, and Wendy Armitage.
We express our heartfelt gratitude for the countless compassionate services rendered by Naval friends, the excellent doctors, nurses, corpsmen of the Balboa Naval Medical Center in San Diego, CA, "ProCare Hospice" of Las Vegas, NV, La Paloma Funeral Home, Blackburn Mortuary, and the Relief Society of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

What led me to dropping Jesse's name in the google search engine yesterday I don't know- I served with her on the USS Inchon over 20 years ago. What I found was devastating and has left me heartbroken and confused. Jesse was a joy to serve and deploy with. She made me laugh when I needed it. She was witty, beautiful, and liked by all. She was "cool". I always admired her ability to pull of an easy going style with high standards. I am so incredibly proud of the service and ranks she continued to achieve. I went bananas when I heard she made chief years ago. Jesse- I will eternally be sorry for spraying you with the high pressure water hose as you dropped off your ranch soiled tray in the scullery that ultimately ruined your freshly pressed uniform. I will never unsee her reaction or un-feel my immediate regret... She forgave me multiple times, but I never stopped apologizing. Oh Jesse, it with a very heavy heart that I write this. Sending love to all affected by her loss.
