RICHMOND, Ind. – Jesse Manuel Coffey, age 98, of Richmond, Indiana, passed away on Wednesday, September 18, 2024, at Reid Health.
Jesse was born June 18, 1926, in Hummel, Kentucky, to the late James Madison "Jim Matt" and Minnie Langford Parrett Coffey. He served as Sergeant T4 with the occupation force of Japan at the conclusion of WWII. Jesse was an employee of Belden Wire & Cable for 25 years. He enjoyed church, traveling with his wife, and visiting with family and friends. Jesse was an active member of Greater Grace Church, where he served as a deacon and adult Sunday School teacher for many years. He was a lifelong servant of the Lord.
Survivors include his brother, Lloyd (Janice) Coffey, of Cincinnati, Ohio; sister, Anna Marie Clark, of Richmond, Indiana; brother-in-law, Gary (Janie) Cromer, of Mt. Vernon, Kentucky; nieces, Janice, Lavonna, Rhonda, Mary Ann, and Tabatha; nephews, Dale, Don, Doug, Darrell, Darren, Jessie, Billy Lee, Steve, and James; great nieces; great nephews; church family; and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Christine Cromer Coffey, who passed away in 2018; parents; sisters, Margaret Arlene Coffey, Clercy Ballinger, and Mae Cowan; brothers, Henry, Johnnie, James, Walter, Conard, Ronald, and Donald.
The family would like to thank the staff of Reid Health and SYNERGY HomeCare for their excellent and compassionate care.
Visitation for Jesse Manuel Coffey will be from 11:00 to 1:00 p.m. Sunday, September 22, 2024, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond. Funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Sunday, September 22, 2024, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home with his nephew, Dr. Steven Clark and Pastor Kevin Templeton officiating. Burial will follow in Crown Hill Cemetery in Centerville, Indiana, with military honors provided by the Wayne County Honor Guard.
Memorial contributions can be made to Greater Grace Church, 1113 Airport Road, Centerville, IN 47330.
