Jesse Lee Obituary

BOONVILLE - Jesse Jay Lee, 43, passed away on Tuesday, October 1, 2024 after a continuous battle with drug addiction. Throughout this struggle, he was able to maintain an unwavering faith in God. We believe he is finally at peace, with his savior, and the many loved ones who went before him.

Jesse was born in Rome on June 29, 1981. He was the son of Mark and Sheri Lee, stepfather Tim Johnson, and stepmother Val Engel, all from Boonville. He graduated from Adirondack Central School in 1999, where he studied auto mechanics at Howard G. Sackett BOCES in Glenfield. He then used this trade and worked for his uncle Richard Lee at Lee Pontiac-Buick in Boonville for many years with family who helped him in more ways than we can express. He met Shemika Marks, who he fell in love with, married, and later divorced. They moved to Panama City, Florida, where he stayed for the past six years before returning home. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, music, and spending time with his beloved service dog, Cocoa.

Surviving are his parents; grandfather, David Leffingwell; his beloved only sister, Jennifer Lee-Lyon; "big brother" brother-in-law, Kenneth Lyon Jr.; "tiny brother" Preston Lee; and his much adored nephew and nieces Kam, Lilli and London, who he thought the world of and talked about often. In addition are many aunts, uncles and cousins who loved him very much! There were two cousins in particular whom he considered "brothers at heart," Michael and Adam Garramone, who will miss him very much. He was predeceased by his maternal grandmother, Carol Leffingwell, and his paternal grandparents, Paul and Jaun Lee, who he lived with on their dairy farm for many years.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society and/or any drug addiction center of your choice.

I had both Jesse and Jenny in class (as well as Kenny Lyon). I cared very much for all three and have many fond memories of them. My heartfelt sympathy to his family and loved ones. I am happy to hear Jesse kept his faith. I will pray for him and for all of you.
With deepest sympathy,
