Jesse Earl Lewis Sr., 102, of Morehead City, North Carolina, passed away at his home on Wednesday, November 19, 2025.
A funeral service to honor Jesse’s life will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, November 21st at Munden Funeral Home, officiated by Rev. Jeff Mizelle. Interment will follow at Bayview Cemetery.
Jesse was born on April 29, 1923, in Morehead City, NC to the late Tom and Annie Lewis. He was a well-known figure in our community, having owned Morehead Sports Marina for over 50 years. His career brought him great joy, as he shared his passion for coastal life, spending countless hours tinkering on boats and utilizing his mechanical skills. In his younger days he enjoyed duck hunting, always appreciating the nature that surrounded him.
A devoted member of Wildwood Presbyterian Church, Jesse was a man of faith and integrity. He will be fondly remembered as a loving husband, an exceptional father, and a proud grandfather who cherished his family deeply.
Those remaining to cherish his memory are his daughter, Metta King of Morehead City, NC; son, Jesse Earl Lewis Jr. and wife Vivian of Newport, NC; sister, Anne Still of Greenville, SC; cousin, Jessie M. Dunn of Newport, NC; granddaughter, Amber L. Justice and husband David; and great-granddaughters, Airlee Maxwell and Brielle Maxwell.
In addition to his parents, Jesse was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Gwendolyn Lewis; sister, Esther McKinney; and brother, Elwood Ray Lewis.
